TRAVEL: A Week In Corfu

Saturday, 30 September 2017

In August, I was lucky enough to head to Corfu for a family holiday. It was a much needed break and so lovely to spend some time with family catching up and relaxing in the sun. This post won't be a long one, because we were only there for 1 week, most of which was spent sunbathing by the pool and swimming in the sea. But I'll show you where we stayed and what I would do differently if we were to head to this resort again.

We stayed at Acharavi Beach Hotel, and the hotel was amazing. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and the food was fantastic. We were half board, so our breakfast and evening meal were paid for, and that was a buffet. The food at the buffet was delicious and there was always such a variety. For lunch, we ate at the Thines restaurant which was in-between the pool and the beach. Main meals were around €7-12 euros and the food was phenomenal. Literally everything we ate there was delicious and the portions were really big. Would 100% recommend this restaurant.

The beach was beautiful, and the sunsets were spectacular, I just wish I'd figured out the settings on my camera before going as some of the sunset shots are a little grainy.

We headed into Corfu Town one day, for a day of shopping and sight seeing. The bus ride was meant to be 40 minutes but it took about an hour there, and an hour and a half on the way back. So looking back, it might not have been the best way to spend one of our 7 days. But Corfu Town itself was lovely and it was easy enough to navigate our way there and around the town centre. There were shops for miles and so many little bakeries to grab a quick cheap snack.

Corfu Town reminded me a lot of some of the streets in Venice, it had a very italian and mediterranean feel to it, just without the canals. It was lovely walking in the gardens along the pier near the old fort, and it was a great day out, if you want a break from snoozing on the sunbeds..

I would 100% recommend this hotel, it would be lovely to go back if you just want a week of relaxation in a lovely hotel. I'm really keen to go back to Greece, but maybe next time I'll try another island like Mykonos or Skiathos.

Have you been to Greece before? I'd love to hear what you think!
With Love; Em x
