Why I love Autumn

Tuesday, 6 September 2016

I hate the question, 'which is your favourite season' because I love them all for different reasons. I love spring because the weather starts to get a bit warmer, the days longer and I can start wearing lighter jackets and spring clothes, also my birthday is in March. I love summer because of the heat, and I associate it with long days spent with my friends and family, going on holiday and pimms. Who doesn't love pimms? I love winter because of Christmas, and I tend to see more of my family around christmas. Although I hate snow, and the aftermath of snow, I'm clumsy and the two don't go very well together. So weather wise, winter is definitely my least favourite. But, for todays post I thought I'd just give a shout out to the reasons why I love Autumn, being as we're in September now.

1. Fresh Start
I always associate September, with new starts. Probably because thats when the academic school year starts, so it's the time when we're starting a new year. Meeting new teachers and tutors, getting out all your new stationary and setting goals for the year. So this is the main reason I love Autumn, I feel like it's inspiring, I always have that sense of 'I have my whole life ahead of me' feeling around this time of year.

2. The Changing Leaves
I actually noticed this, this morning on the way to work. I live directly opposite a lovely park, and on my way to work this morning I noticed that the leaves had started to fall. All different shades of orange, rust, browns and reds. I just can't wait till they start to get dry and crunchy, and you get that really satisfying crunch sound when you walk over them.

3. The Weather
I find the rain really irritating, like most people. But mainly because I'm yet to find a waterproof coat that doesn't make me look like a mum doing the school run and dropping the kids of at football. But other than the rain, I love that the weather in Autumn is more predictable. There are less hot days, and the weather just slowly starts to get cooler. I love being able to get dressed in the morning knowing I'm going to be comfortable all day. Unlike today, where I wore a high neck long sleeved top and the sun decided to make an appearance and the ice-cream van came out. Not cool.

4. Hot Drinks
I drink a lot lot less hot drinks over summer, and when September hits I get back into the habit of having my morning cup of tea. I appreciate hot drinks a lot more in the cooler months, and coming home from work and making a nice cuppa to warm me up.

5. Dressing Gowns
I've missed my dressing gown SO much over Christmas. I love feeling cosey and comfortable and my XL mens dressing gown from primark does just the job. I can't wait till it gets cool enough to wear it again.

6. The Holidays
I absolutely love the autumnal holidays. Bonfire Night, Halloween and the fair. These all bring back such lovely childhood memories of getting wrapped up to go out and watch the fireworks or go to the fair. Also, it's so nice to have things to look forward too, especially when the days start getting shorter and cooler.

The Outfit:
Todays outfit isn't the most autumnal, but hey! I've recently got these gorgeous jeans from pretty little thing and I wanted to show them off. I stole this shirt out of mum's wardrobe (soz mum) and I took my new baby (the zara bag) for an outing. I'm really happy with how this outfit came together, I think it's a very easy outfit. Imagine it in the cooler months with a tailored black coat and some heeled boots, oooh yes. It's mega simple, which is why I like it so much. But if you want to have an outfit with a bit more oomph then why don't you go for double embroidery and pair these jeans with an embroidered top.

Whats your favourite thing about Autumn? I'd really love to know.

With love;
Em x
